#BATW2021 Conference Update
We’ve reluctantly come to the increasingly unavoidable conclusion that even the hybrid conference we were aiming for this year isn’t possible.
But there will be a Britain and the World conference. It’ll be online, 16-18 June 2021.
We’re committed to being in Plymouth in 2022 for a hybrid conference (which is to say it’ll be the usual pre-2020 in person affair, but with online participation for those who wish it). All the plans we originally made will go ahead, albeit two years later than intended.
BATW2021 conference will have no registration fee, but membership of the society will be a requirement for participation. This has become standard practice for conferences in our socially distanced age, and goes some way to helping fill the enormous hit our finances have taken by not hosting a conventional conference.
If you received an email with this information, please accept this as confirmation that your paper or panel has been accepted for this year’s conference. No further action is required, and we’ll be in touch with the programmes and means of access in due course.
Please let us know if you’re unable to, or would rather not, participate in this year’s conference.
This is obviously an outcome imposed upon us by circumstances, but also an opportunity. We hope that the 130 delegates we currently have will still join us, as the range and quality of submissions was exceptional, and that anybody unable to be in Plymouth in person will now be able to participate. To encourage them, this year’s conference CFP will be extended to 15 February.
If you’re still able to participate, please would you ensure that you’ll be a member when the conference takes place: https://britainandtheworld.org/take-action. Thank you
