About Britain and the World

Britain and the World is an organization dedicated to exploring Britain's interactions with the world from the sixteenth century to today.

The organization relies on the expertise of individuals from around the world who share a common interest in Britain, its history, and its interactions with the wider world. We seek to draw scholars together through our annual conference, journal, and book series.

The organization is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt educational non-profit organization incorporated in the state of Texas.

  • Conferences

Our annual conferences, alternating between the United States and Britain, and attracting international participation provide opportunities for scholars to present cutting edge research in a friendly and supportive environment. Our social events allow conversations to extend beyond the panel to continue fostering academic growth.

  • Journal

Our field-leading peer reviewed journal, Britain and the World, is published biannually by Edinburgh University Press. We offer scholars at all levels the opportunity to showcase their work and together we push the study of the British world forward.

  • Book Series

The Britain and the World book series published by Palgrave represents a third opportunity for our members to promote their research. We are particularly eager to hear from scholars working on any aspect of the British world from the 16th century to today.
